WHY PARTICIPATE IN A RED FOX CREATIVE CHALLENGE?

Sometimes creativity and mindfulness can seem out of reach. Our expectations of ourselves stretch into the realm of perfectionism...ew! That is not fun, or mindful.  In light of that, we are starting a series of creativity and mindfulness challenges to assist our Red Fox peeps to be more mindful and creative.

HOW TO DO A RED FOX CREATIVE CHALLENGE

🧡 Read this blog post! (Success! Already! Congratulate yourself! Seriously! You have already started and it is awesome!)

🧡 You do not have to do the challenges list in the order they are written.

🧡 We include creativity challenges as well as mindful

🧡 This doesn't have to use up tons of time. 5-30 minutes...whatever time you can spare.

🧡 Some of the creativity challenges suggest mediums but use whatever you have.

WAYS TO EXPRESS YOURSELF:

  • Visual Art

  • Creative writing (journaling, post-it notes, memos on your phone, ETC)

  • Music (listening to or relating to)

  • Voice/Singing/Poetry

  • Movement

 

MEDIUMS YOU CAN USE:

  • Pencil

  • Pen

  • Crayons

  • Pencil crayons

  • Markers

  • Paint

  • Camera phone

  • Magazines and glue

 
 
 

JANUARY CREATIVE CHALLENGE TASKS:

  1. Create an acrostic poem about WINTER (acrostic means the first letter of each line spells out a word, message or the alphabet)

  2. Sketch something from the latest book your read / are reading

  3. Boil yourself some water, make a tea, sit in the quiet, take three deep breaths, do nothing but drink that tea. Don’t go on your phone, don’t turn on the TV, just sit with your warm tea. Create something from this experience (tip: sketch your mug, make hot water swirls on paper, anything!)

  4. Meditate and journal about it

  5. Get outside, notice the air, the smells, the imagery around you. When you get home create something to represent this experience.

  6. Make a goal to notice an intense feeling today. Assign that feeling a colour and create something in your journal that uses that colour.

  7. Create artist trading card about your breakfast food (or lack there of)

  8. Create a journal entry about a dream you had last night. If you don’t remember your dream, make up a nonsensical story. Embrace your inner 6 year old.

  9. Scribble in your journal. Make random marks. Go a little nuts. Colour it in.

  10. Draw a snowflake
