I loved this workshop! Kristin is is a barrel of fun. We spent the day trying different techniques. I was impressed with my first try at encaustics. I went out and bought medium to get right at it, at home.
Do I have to have previous experience?
No, absolute beginners are welcome. No experience required. This workshop is suitable for anyone over eighteen years old. Please note: If accompanied by parent/guardian attending the workshop, then sixteen years old and over is acceptable.
What is encaustic paint?
Basically it is beeswax and pigment. Encaustic is a versatile, ancient medium made with beeswax and damar resin. Encaustic means to burn because heat is needed to use this medium.
What should I wear?
Old shoes and warm clothing. The satellite studio space is cool, bring or dress in layers. It would suck to be cold all day.
What about lunch time?
We will be leaving the studio for a lunch break (approximately one hour).
Do I need specialized equipment to do this after the workshop?
You will need a heat source (It can be a simple as a hot iron.) Good ventilation...Summer is always around the corner :), beeswax and a inflexible surface to work on.
Is this like paint night?
No. It is better. ;) You can personalize it.
