Create your own beautiful one-of-a-kind scarf using the ancient technique of Shibori.

Shibori is an ancient Japanese resist dyeing technique that dates back to the 8th century.  In this workshop, prepare to let go of expectations and just BE in the moment while you twist, bind, and compress fabric to explore a variety of colourful textures and patterns on natural fibres.  You will use marbles, pennies, elastic, wood, piping and string to create your own beautiful one-of-a-kind scarf.

The investment of this workshop includes a brief history in the Japanese art of shibori, instruction, supplies and a take-home scarf.

Includes all the supplies needed to make your scarf:

  • 8” x 50” 100% Silk Scarf OR a double loop infinity scarf
  • Paint Brushes
  • Fabric Dyes
  • Shibori tools

>>> The fabric needs a few days to dry. You have the option of coming back a week later to rinse and iron your finished scarf.  If you are unable to make the rinse time, we would be more then happy to do this for you, for $5. You can call us (306.550.2718) to arrange a pick up time.

NOTE: Students are encouraged to bring an apron or wear old clothes, as we will be working with dye. The messier the better.

WANT TO COME AGAIN? No problem - we welcome repeats.
If you have already attended a workshop: You are welcome to bring one or two items from home, to dye. Examples: pillow cases, t-shirt, scarf, or fabric placemats. Fabric content MUST BE 100% natural; cotton, linen, denim, flanelette, or silk (no wool please).
*Caution: If your item contains synthetic fibers, the dyes will not set properly and the technique will not work.
