The Creative Collective.  Red Fox Creative and Stone’s Throw Coffee Collective are getting hitched!

Stone’s Throw is the quintessential community coffee house; Red Fox is all about creativity & mindfulness, helping you find your creative joy.  Kristin, Kayla and Kim met last year and instantly hit it off, finding that they share many of the same interests such as love of community, real conversation, creating spaces for people to feel welcome, and started to talk about co-hosting events that allow for individuals to connect with one another.

We’re getting together on select Fridays and inviting you to come out to explore your creative side and meet others from the Regina community.

Starting on July 13, and a number of Friday’s going forward, we’ll be offering a variety of creative & mindful workshops right in the coffee house!

SHIBORI SCARVES

Create your own beautiful one-of-a-kind scarf using the ancient technique of Shibori.

Shibori is an ancient Japanese resist dyeing technique that dates back to the 8th century.  At this WORKSHOP, prepare to let go of expectations and just BE in the moment while you twist, bind, and compress fabric to explore a variety of colourful textures and patterns on natural fibres.  You will use marbles, pennies, elastic, wood, piping and string to create your own beautiful one-of-a-kind scarf.

The investment of this workshop includes a brief history in the Japanese art of shibori, instruction, supplies, and the rinsing + ironing of your custom made scarf.

>>> The fabric needs a few days to dry. You will rinse and iron your scarf at Red Fox Creative Studio, 300 - 1954 Angus Street in 7 days. If you cannot attend this portion - that's ok, let Melanie know.

SASSY CROSS STITCH

Cross-stitch is a form of sewing and a popular form of embroidery. We would like to introduce you to a concept known as 'subversive cross stitch', which involves more risque designs, often fusing the traditional sampler style with quotes. The quotes range from sassy to downright offensive. You can choose how far to take your cross stitch.

Patterns, string, needles and hoops will be provided. You will take home your piece, the tools needed to finish this piece and to make more sassy stuff!

No experience necessary.

NEEDLE FELTING

For the times when you need to stab something 10,000 times. What is needle felting? Well the simple answer is: It’s a fibre art that uses a barbed needle to felt wool roving into a 2D or 3D shape.

Needle felting can seem like a complicated craft filled with all kinds of unfamiliar tools, but don’t be intimidated. You will be bonding the wool fibres together to make a solid felted shape by poking/stabbing it repeatedly with the felting needle. You can create different shapes by wrapping the wool roving into balls, cylinders and cones and then working it with the needle.

Kind of like paint night... but felting-night!
